Starting and Starting Again!

Wednesday, November 4, 2015 / Leave a Comment

Realistically no one wants to start something and then have to start all over again. Its no fun and most times you'd rather just start something new.

That's where I was, but than I realized it's okay to start again. It's okay, just as long as you learn from past mistakes and do better each time.

I don't like failure, let's be honest no one does. And when things don't go according to my plan, I feel defeated. I like things perfect, especially projects I work on. Why? Because they are a reflection of me. They are a part of me!

I haven't written a blog post since last year. I had moments where I felt inspired, but then, so much was going on that needed my focus, the moments of inspiration passed.

So here I am starting again, and hopefully I can become consistent with my posting. My hope is to keep going no matter what's going on around me. And I hope that my process can inspire and motivate you!

Living Your Passion

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Michelle Antionette. Michelle is the mother of three girls ages 15, 11, and 9. Not only is she a mom, but she is a teacher with a passion for singing. She took the time out of her busy schedule to discuss with me how she manages to pursue her dreams, while working and being a mom.

Me: What do you teach?

Michelle: I am a reading specialist, I teach intensive phonics to middle school children.

Me: Since you sing, teaching isn't all you do, what are you currently working on aside from teaching.

Michelle: I'm working on putting an album out next year. I am about to go back in the studio in the next month.

Never Lose Sight

I hate the fact that I haven't been consistent with writing for my blog lately. However I honestly haven't felt motivated or inspired enough to write. Sometimes there are so many different things going on that it is hard to stay focused. Since I'm a mommy September has been extremely hectic for me.
  • Back to school
  • Get both the kids and myself into a routine that will allow our mornings to run smoothly
  • Get up earlier to get the kids to school on time
  • Changes at work
All of the above has been a process, maybe it comes easy for some mothers, but it takes some getting used to for me. So far so good, I've had a few cases of running late here and there, but for the most part we (me and my boys) have made it work.

With all that and them some taking place, my blog was put on the back burner. Finally I decided to put a post up and then BAM! Some changes in the workplace....

Getting Started

Just do it. What are you waiting for? Those are just some of the questions I've encountered when I've mentioned wanting to start my own business.

Sure it sounds simple, you have an idea, and you hit the ground running, and then boom your a success. Right! But it's not that easy. At least for me it wasn't.

For some people it may be easy and for others it can be extremely difficult. Why? Well I can only speak for myself when I say perfection was my enemy.

I had my ideas on how I wanted my blog to look, how I wanted my logo to look, oh and I knew exactly how I wanted my Twitter background to look.

I just knew I couldn't launch my blog until all of these aspects where perfect. Because I hate going to sites and they are not visually pleasing. Yes I am that person that picks apart a website and looks at what should have been done, compared to what has been done. So I was adamant that my blog site had to be perfect (or at least what I deem perfect)

Baking Her Way To Success

Anyone who knows me, knows I love to eat. So it's only right that my first interview is with Sasha Lopez, of Cupcakes by Sasha!

Cupcakes by Sasha is a small business that Sasha started in her own kitchen. You can get tasty novelty/ custom cupcakes at affordable rates.

Me: Are you a full-time entrepreneur, or do you work another job on the side?

Sasha: When I first started out I worked as a freelance designer and baked on the side. Now I am solely focused on baking.

Me: Is it difficult juggling being a mom and having your own business?

Sasha:  Whether having 2 jobs or even being a stay at home mom, motherhood is thee most difficult job. No matter how my day was, if I was not feeling well, my child still needed quality mommy time, that can never change.
